Tour Plan

Travel Time: ~1 hour from the airport to Colombo
After you land at Bandaranaike International Airport, your adventure kicks off with a chill day in Colombo. This is where you get to shake off the jet lag and enjoy the buzz of the city. Take a walk down Galle Face Green, watch the sunset over the ocean, and grab some local snacks from the street vendors. Later in the afternoon, you can visit the Vihara Maha Devi Park and stroll in the lush green areas of the park and observe some large bats hanging on the branches in the large trees that engulf the park.

Overnight: Colombo

Travel Time: ~3 hours

Trek: Belilena Caves (Moderate)
Drive to Kitulgala, a lush, rainforest-covered region nestled along the Kelani River. Embark on a short jungle hike to Belilena Cave, where prehistoric human fossils were discovered—an ancient site hidden behind thick foliage and waterfalls. Optional whitewater rafting on the Kelani adds thrill to the day

Overnight: Kitulgala

Travel Time: ~3.5 hours (120 km)
Trek: Night ascent of Adam’s Peak (Hard)
Early start today! We’re heading to Dalhousie, which is the base for climbing the holy Adam’s Peak.

Since the best and the most worthwhile time to climb the mountain is during the night you need to set off from Kitugala in the evening around 4 pm and reach the foot of Adam’s Peak (Dalhousie) around 6 pm where you will check-in to a small lodge and refresh and rest till just after midnight. The goal is to witness the fabulous sunrise which takes place between 5.45 and 6.15 am. Dalhousie ( aka Nallithanni) – the closest Access route to climb Adam’s Peak from Kitulagala. One should ideally be at the foot of the mountain at Dalhousie just past midnight or the fitter ones – around 2 am in order to begin the arduous 08 km climb to the misty mountaintop. Hopefully after witnessing a glorious sunrise (weather permiting) you will descend in a different path and reach Ratnapura around 11am (next day).

Trust me, this is no walk in the park. It’s a steep 5,500-step trek, and you'll start in the evening to make sure you reach the top for sunrise. Why the crazy hours? Because Adam’s Peak is considered sacred by Buddhists, Hindus, Christians, and Muslims alike. The sunrise from the summit is absolutely jaw-dropping, with a 360-degree view over the clouds. The climb might be tough, but the feeling of reaching the top makes it all worth it!
Overnight: Simple accommodation near Adam’s Peak before setting off on the climb.

Travel Time: ~2 hours (60 km)
Trek: Descent (Hard)
After witnessing that incredible sunrise, it’s time to come back down. The descent from Adam’s Peak can be tough on your legs, so take it slow and enjoy the cool air as you descend back into Ratnapura, Sri Lanka's gem capital. If you’re interested in something chill, you can visit the Ratnapura Gem Museum or wander around the town to check out the local markets.

Overnight: Ratnapura

Travel Time: ~3 hours (90 km)
Trek: Afternoon buffer zone trek (Easy–Moderate)
Next up, we’re off to Sinharaja, Sri Lanka’s last remaining stretch of untouched rainforest and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After you get settled into your lodge, you’ll take an easy afternoon trek through the buffer zone near the forest. Expect to spot rare birds, monkeys. You may hear the calls of the Sri Lanka junglefowl or spot a purple-faced langur in the canopy. The air is fresh, and the vibe is super chill.

Overnight: Sinharaja

Trek: Full-day guided rainforest trek (Moderate–Hard)
Trek Time: ~5-6 hours
Time to explore Sinharaja properly! Grab your gear and head into the heart of the rainforest. You’ll be guided through dense, humid trails, and you’ll probably feel like you're in an adventure movie. The trails are filled with wild giant trees, exotic bird species such as Sri Lanka blue magpie, and if you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of a green pit viper hanging out in the trees. It’s one of those treks where you forget about the time and just let the forest absorb you.

Overnight: Sinharaja

Travel Time: ~4 hours (120 km)
Trek: Duwili Ella Waterfall (Hard)
Pack your bags, because we’re heading to Haputale in the central highlands, a super cool and misty area. On the way, stop off at Duwili Ella Waterfall, a hidden gem where the water plunges from a cliff into a cool cave behind it. The trek to the waterfall is a bit tricky, but the sight of the falls makes it worth every step.

Overnight: Haputale

Trek: Lipton’s Seat (Moderate)
Trek Time: ~3 hours
Start your day with a relaxed trek through tea plantations to reach Lipton’s Seat—one of the best viewpoints in Sri Lanka. You’ll get to see the lush green hills below, and if it’s clear, the views are absolutely insane! Sir Thomas Lipton, who ran the plantations here, used to sit here to check out his empire. Now it’s a perfect place for a tea break!

Overnight: Haputale

Travel Time: ~2 hours
Trek: World’s End & Baker’s Falls (Moderate)
We’re heading to the cool Horton Plains National Park for a trek through some of the country’s most stunning terrain. Trek through Horton Plains, a cloud forest plateau at 2,100 meters elevation. Visit World’s End, a sheer cliff with a 900-meter drop, and pass through forests alive with sambar deer, lichen-covered trees, and birdsong. End the trail at Baker’s Falls, cascading beautifully over black rocks.

Overnight: Nuwara Eliya

Trek Time: ~2 hours
Trek: Victoria Park and Lake Gregory (Easy)
Today’s a bit more relaxed. Take a leisurely walk around Lake Gregory and explore Victoria Park, a lush escape right in the heart of Nuwara Eliya. You’ll see a ton of birds including flycatchers and barbets, so don’t forget your camera. If you’re into colonial architecture, the town itself is also a throwback to the British colonial era, with charming houses and gardens.

Overnight: Nuwara Eliya

Travel Time: ~4 hours by train
For something a little different, we’re going to take one of the world’s most scenic train journeys from Nanu Oya to Kandy. This ride goes through tea plantations, waterfalls, and misty mountains—it’s like a movie! Sit back, relax, and let the beautiful views roll by. No trekking today—just enjoy the ride.

Overnight: Kandy

Trek: Udawattekele Forest & Kandy Lake (Easy–Moderate)
Trek Time: ~2-3 hours
Today, we’ll go into the Udawattekele Forest Reserve, a small but serene forest in Kandy. It’s a great place to spot monkeys and birds. Afterward, take a peaceful walk around Kandy Lake, a lovely spot to wind down and take in the city’s charm.

Overnight: Digana

Trek: Deanston to Corbett’s Gap (Moderate–Hard)
Trek Time: ~4-5 hours
Today we’re heading to the Knuckles Mountain Range for an epic trek from Deanston Park to Corbett’s Gap. It’s a full day of walking through misty forests, scenic ridgelines, and high mountain grasslands. The views of the surrounding peaks are worth the sweat and effort.

Overnight: Digana

Travel Time: ~1.5 hours
Trek: Pitiwala Pathana & Mini World’s End (Moderate)
Trek Time: ~3 hours
Today, we’ll trek across Pitiwala Pathana grasslands to reach Mini World’s End—a mini version of the famous World’s End in Horton Plains, with equally jaw-dropping views. This is a peaceful, cool, and open trek, offering 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

Overnight: Riverstone

Travel Time: ~3.5 hours (from Riverstone)
Trek: Manigala Rock (Hard)
Trek Time: ~3 hours
Today’s climb takes us to Manigala Rock, a limestone outcrop rising above the Knuckles foothills. The trail winds through the ancient village of Pitawala, and offers scenic views of terraced paddy fields and the Thelgamu Oya river below. The trek is challenging with some rocky sections, but the views from the top are absolutely worth it—looking out over the Knuckles Range and the Thelgamu Oya river.

Overnight: Sigiriya

Trek: Pidurangala Rock & Thalkotewewa Lake (Moderate)
Trek Time: ~3 hours
Rise early to climb Pidurangala Rock for sunrise—it’s a quieter spot than Sigiriya Rock, but the views are just as incredible. Afterward, take a relaxing walk through the countryside to Thalkotewewa Lake, where you can enjoy a peaceful moment by the water, with the occasional elephant sighting!

Overnight: Sigiriya

Travel Time: ~4.5 hours (160 km)
Trek: Sigiriya Fortress (Moderate)
Trek Time: ~1.5 hours (Sigiriya Rock)
Climb Sigiriya Rock for one last epic adventure! Known as the “Lion’s Rock,” this UNESCO World Heritage site is one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic landmarks. Climb the 1,200 steps to the top and enjoy the stunning views over the lush jungle below. Afterward, head to Negombo for a relaxing evening by the beach.

Overnight: Negombo

Travel Time: ~30 minutes to Bandaranaike International Airport
Enjoy a final walk by the beach or if time permits take a morning walk through Negombo’s colonial canals and fish markets before heading to the airport for your departure flight or transfer to one of many coastal resorts for your beach holiday in Sri Lanka or Maldives.
